Ron's Bass - 01/20/2010
Heres a pic of Ron's neck being glued up. (his is on the right)
I glued and radiused the birds-eye fret board.
Today we did the shamrock inlays and fret wire.
Heres a shot of the neck after I shaped it. (Notice the draw knife in the upper left)
Neck, meet body. Body, meet neck. (Alder body)
After the eastern maple top was glued on I cut out the body shape and then edged it to its final cut. I also did an arm and belly releif.
Here's a shot of the backside.
I got the pick ups routed out and the bridge mocked up.
Drilled the holes for the tuners and slotted the nut.
Heres a shot of the control cavity routed out. Nice flamey neck!!
This week was pretty productive. Got a coat of color and two coats of sealer. I'll post some more pics after final sanding and buffing.
Here's a shot with some laquer and hardware mounted.
Here it is in all it's glory, waiting to be strung.
A gratuitous backside shot!!!!
Here is a shot of the head stock after completion.
.......and we're done!!!

Single Cut Flat Top - 01/19/2010
Here is a shot of the guitar without the hardware. You can see the tenon inside the pick up cavity. This goes on past the bridge.
Single Cut Flat Top - 01/19/2010
I did an extended tenon on this guitar which let me sculpt the neck into back of the guitar. In doing this, I got rid of the heel completely.Â
